📢September is full of good news…
Let’s start with the ERC Starting Grants 2023 results 🌟
First of all, we would like to congratulate the Spanish researchers who have received an ERC StG 2023, especially the five researchers we have helped through our proposal review or interview preparation services 👏👏👏
We would like to express our gratitude to the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, the Centro Nacional de Investigaciones Oncológicas Carlos III, the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, the Universidad Autónoma de Barcelona and the Fundación Madri+D the trust granted to our team
In addition, we are pleased to share some exciting news related to the ERC programme: we will be working with more than 80 researchers eligible for funding in the Consolidator, Advanced and Synergy ERC categories. Partnering with FECYT we will undertake a series of trainings to improve the communication skills of researchers and optimise the results in the interview phase of Spanish entities in this programme, with the goal of increasing the success of Spanish entities in this crucial phase.
This action will have two stages: the first, consists of a training in “Effective Communication for ERC Interviews in English”, covering topics such as speech structure, technical means, non-verbal language, public speaking, credibility, Q&A, graphic elements and PowerPoint design, always taking into account the ERC evaluation criteria. The second part of the course consists of “Individual Communication Sessions (ICS)”, which offer advice on how to simulate real ERC interviews and optimise performance in the presentation and Q&A phase, proposing recommendations and suggestions for improvement.
A successful interview represents a necessary condition to achieve higher success rates in excellence programs. As an example, while the percentage of Spanish proposals that reached the interview phase in the 2022 StG call was equal to that of other countries (28.44%), the post-interview success rate (25%) was significantly below the average of other countries (40.44%), according to data compiled by FECYT.
The new service developed by Kveloce helps candidates and participants to change this dynamic and enhance Spanish representation in the ERC programme, providing researchers with the necessary tools and skills to excel at every stage of the process. At Kveloce, we are excited to contribute boosting Spanish research and we hope to continue driving its success on the European stage 🚀
