On the 18th of May, we will organise together with Las Naves and the video game Valencian firm, Nerlaska, an innovative breakfast, from 9 to 10 am focused on digital tools, new technologies and gamification techniques that can help deal with this social inclusion challenges.
We aim to add value to the last developments in inclusion and well-being for people with auditory disabilities, in the frame of the European project 3D Tune-IN, financed by the European Commission in the Horizon 2020 program. This project is led by the Imperial College London and in it participate Universities, the multinational auditory devices manufacturers GN Hearing, and videogame and audiovisual firms, with a vocation clearly oriented towards education and social awareness-raising about the loss of audition and optimization of the use of auditory devices, both for professionals of the field and for those who have a loss of audition.
New technologies applied to the improvement of living standards of people with functional diversity offer an endless supply of possibilities and social benefits, but also economic and technological ones. Without going very far, and even with the significant improvements in auditive technology, the usage of auditive devices of the latest generation will be particularly hard, especially when we talk about kids and elderly people. 3D Tune-In proposes a series of games and application that hope to ease the use of this devices to reduce the isolation that the people affected suffer and improving their inclusion within the society, also through the educative videogame for people with no audition losses developed by Nerlaska.
In addition, during the project, a Toolkit especially thought for video games and application developers will be developed, -both industrial and indie ones- which includes simulation of sensory loss, devices or its calibration, as well as other utilities of use such as the design and creation of software directed to this community.
The Workshop will be especially focused on exploiting and transferring results from investigation and innovation among universities and PYME, and how this exchange of knowledge and experiences will have a positive impact on the society, and particularly, on the lives of the people with disabilities.
