Programme: Horizon Europe (GA 101291290)
Date: 2026-2030
OCEOMICS (Ocean Computational Exploration and Analytics for the Novel Bioactive Molecules’ Discovery and their Exploitation in Cosmetics) is a Horizon Europe project aimed at advancing marine bioprospecting by integrating digital technologies, artificial intelligence, omics tools and biotechnology. The project seeks to discover, characterise, optimise and scale up the production of new marine bioactive compounds for high-value cosmetic formulations, with anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, skin barrier protection and UV photoprotection effects.
Coordinated by AINIA, OCEOMICS brings together 12 organisations from several countries, including partners from Spain, Greece, the Netherlands, Croatia, Italy, New Zealand, Belgium and the United Kingdom.
Kveloce’s role focuses mainly on the Safe and Sustainable by Design (SSbD) assessment, together with Wageningen University and IDENER. Kveloce coordinates the development of the SSbD assessment framework and carries out the social and economic sustainability assessment of production processes, novel marine bioactive compounds and the resulting products. In addition, Kveloce contributes to integrating the project’s social dimension, acceptance, impact and participatory approach, helping to ensure that the solutions developed are sustainable, responsible and aligned with market and societal expectations.
